PDL propune UDMR o noua varianta de reorganizare regionala E una cu 12-14 regiuni, pe care democrat-liberalii doresc sa le contureze plecand de la cele saisprezece regiuni care alcatuiau harta tarii in anii 1960. S-ar reinfiinta regiunile istorice Banat, Maramures, Crisana si Oltenia, iar Moldova ar fi impartita in doua regiuni: una care va cuprinde Iasi, Neamt, Suceava si Botosani , cu capitala la Iasi si o a doua care se va intinde pe teritoriul judetelor Bacau, Vaslui si Vrancea, cu capitala la Bacau.

In ceea ce priveste Tinutul Secuiesc, PDL se gandeste la varianta in care Harghita si marea parte a Muresului sa fie reunite intr-o singura regiune, iar Covasna sa treaca sub autoritatea Brasovului.
